CHILDREN and parents are being warned about dangerous dares that have landed one teenage girl in accident and emergency with a severe burn.

The deputy head teacher of Littleover Community School, Jon Wilding, has issued the warning after an increase in the number of children being injured taking part in "dares" that left one girl needing to attend hospital.

Mr Wilding said: "In the past weeks we have seen an increase in the number of students who have been injured by taking part in dares.

"One of our pupils was left with quite a severe burn after she held an aerosol over her skin and meant she had to attend the accident and emergency department.

"The increase is not huge, we are talking about six or so over the last couple of weeks, but we wrote to parents as we wanted them to be aware and speak to their children, as well making themselves more aware of what their children may be doing."

The young girl who ended up in hospital is doing well and receiving treatment for her injury and other children who have been involved in similar dares have been spoken to.
