£440,000 to improve Derbyshire roads this month

ROAD repairs which are to cost £440,000 are being carried out in Derbyshire this month.

Work includes resurfacing on the A609 Nottingham Road, in Ilkeston, costing £75,000, and £85,000 of road surface dressing on the A632 Chesterfield Road, Matlock.

The money is just part of a £35 million package that Derbyshire County Council will spend on improving the roads in 2014-15.

Councillor Dean Collins, deputy cabinet member for jobs, economy and transport, said: "Improving roads and pavements in the county is one of our priorities and work that is being carried out this month will help us to achieve this.

"We are always checking which roads need improving to ensure Derbyshire has an efficient transport network which is important to the local economy."

Work being carried out by the county council on other roads across Derbyshire includes: road resurfacing in Newbold Road, Newbold, costing £150,000; road resurfacing in Highfield Lane, Newbold, costing £90,000; pavement resurfacing in Holymoor Road, Holymoorside, costing £40,000; road resurfacing in Arbour Hill, Dale Abbey, and pavement resurfacing in Mosley Road, Buxton.
