The shocking video footage below of a road-rage incident may encourage motorists to fit cameras to their vehicles, it is hoped.
The clip, from a camera in the cab of a lorry which was travelling along the A53 towards Leek in Staffordshire, shows the moment a frustrated motorist swerved in front of a lorry before unleashing a barrage of abuse..
Lawyers say it enabled the HGV driver to prove he was not to blame for the incident which was not reported to police.
Calls have been made for more lorries to be fitted with CCTV after a solicitor said he had seen a rise in the number of successful prosecutions as a result of such footage
Motoring law specialist Bobby Bell, director of BB Law Ltd, said: "Over the last 12 to 18 months we've noticed an increase in prosecutions being brought on the basis of CCTV footage from 'always on' cameras installed in vehicles driven or ridden by members of the public.
"The footage can be an invaluable tool for the justice system because it enables the court to see the facts of the case in real time rather than having to rely on descriptions from witnesses."
